Americas JUST DO NOT GET IT! Jacob Goldstein missed the whole reason GM is switching. GM is saying CENTRALIZED management does not work. Just look at the fraud with Medicare. GM is moving to a high deductible plan because they cannot manage as good as the EMPLOYEES can. All health care plans require the employee to... pay a co pay for doctors visits, co insurance and deductibles. The GM plan DOES NOT. The GM plan has a $1300 deductible for an individual and GM gives the employee $1300 every year as a contribution to their health savings account. DO not use it, do not loose it. You go to the doctor and you get the only FIRST DOLLAR COVERAGE because you are spending GM money for 100% of the doctor visit. Why do Americans not understand this? Employees will now engage THEIR brain and start ASSISTING in the management of their care and the expenses associated with health care. This is not a SHIFT in cost to the employee.
